He's a cute one. Did you spot this fellow in the park? I don't recall my brother, the park ranger, mentioning this species when he gave us the scenic tour; which is why I asked. Brother mine was trying to give us the most data in the shortest amount of time...it was August.
He works at Red Rock Canyon?? That's awesome! Yeah, there is one of the trails that leads to a stream... my dad used to catch frogs when he was really young, so he found this one. I don't think I would have been able to get this shot without him
We did a thorough check out of the visitors center. Drove the main loop, stopping at the overlooks; then walked up the side canyon to check out the petroglyphs.
You definitely need a guide out there unless you've grown up in the area and had paying attention to your total surroundings taught to you so thoroughly it is "always on". Even then, the buddy system works best. Between the scree and the native critters it is a dangerous place for civilians.
Oh ok, gotcha. Yeah, the one that my dad and I hiked (I can't remember the name, it's been a while) was one of the trails that had a kind of steep walk down from where you park, and just a little ways off is a small stream. I agree, I don't think I could ever go hiking by myself and feel comfortable. :/ But it is an amazing sight when you're out there rock climbing or whatever.
Interesting picture. Nature never fails to astound with the amount of camouflage it puts to hid. Great pic, although the focus could be much better. Anyhow a great shot!
